Our Story

Watchwith is the cloud platform for building synchronous experiences around film, television and commercials for any IP connected device. We believe time-based metadata is the future of film, television, and advertising. Watchwith is in the business of helping content owners create new licensable related content properties that will generate profits across media far into the future.

Metadata Ecosystem Overview

We believe content owners should control and monetize the context of their film and television programming. That context is established by creating time-based metadata. Watchwith enables programmers to create, control and syndicate time-based metadata that drives new user experiences, unlocks new business models and delivers deep consumer engagement around their movies, TV shows, and commercials.

What is Time Data?

Time Data represents a fundamental evolution in the history of media. Frame-by-frame, second-by-second, scene-by-scene, Time Data reveals the context of programming which app developers can use to enable revolutionary consumer use cases and profitable new business models. Content owners create basic Time Data including actors/portrayals, music, products and locations and custom events like trivia, quizzes, or character backstory to add depth and engagement to content. By linking this data to 3rd party revenue generating web services, this data becomes actionable, social, engaging and fun for consumers on the first-screen, the second-screen and beyond.

Metadata Ecosystem

Related Content Database

The Related Content Database™ was originally established in 2006 to provide content owners with a database in the cloud that enables them to add related content experiences to their Blu-ray™ discs. Our proven software solutions and data services have been deployed by major film studios and consumer brands including The Walt Disney Company, 20th Century Fox, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Warner Bros, Netflix, Fandango and Totalmovie. The Related Content Database contains second-by-second time-based metadata for over 3000 feature films and television programs. Today, the tools we've used internally to create this catalog of licensable time-based metadata have evolved into the Watchwith Platform. The Related Content Database remains a core component of the platform.

Over the last year, the business focus of Watchwith has shifted from our own use of the platform to produce time data for partners to a platform-as-a-service business model where content owners and programmers use the Watchwith Platform to create, control and syndicate time-based metadata around their films, television programs and advertising. Content owner created time data is stored in the Related Content Database and is made available to application developers via the Watchwith API. Based on business rules that content owners establish and manage in the Watchwith Console, each Watchwith enabled app uses a unique API key that guarantees content owners complete control over the licensable time-based metadata driven related content events that are delivered to consumers in their own direct to consumer apps, and syndicated to their business partners' apps.
